Windows 10 PowerToys

Do you remember the good, old days when we have Power Toys for Windows? We could do all sorts of nifty, novel, and in some cases, silly things with them. Enter Windows 10 Power Toys!

What exactly are these? They’re Github hosted code components to add additional capability to Windows 10 that you might have in other Operating Systems through apps. At present there are a handful of enhancements that include a bulk image resizer, a window walker, and fancy zones (aka snapping to custom zone layouts), among others.

The team that is working on these tools seems to be sticking to a monthly cadence and we’re at 0.16.0 at the moment.

Windows 10 Technical Preview Hotfixes…

There are a few updates that were released for Windows 10 Preview (build 10049) today that might be of benefit to you. Like all hotfixes – if you’re not suffering from the issue or don’t require a particular feature, don’t install the hotfix.

Nevertheless, the two that were released are:

– Hyper-V cannot be enabled – https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3053898
– Outlook might not index new emails – https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3053902

I’m guessing that most folks aren’t using the Hyper-V capability, but the Outlook index of new e-mails is probably helpful for anyone that presses control-e and searches within the Outlook client.
